the other side of what? THE MUSHROOM OF COURSE!

i think i lead a fairly straightforward boring life, so i probably won't update too much. this is the newest thing in my life that i found mildly amusing: mushrooms. surprisingly, i'm not referring to the visually stimulating, heart opening kind.
creminis, actually.  i've grown up hating mushrooms. they're funky textured (like... rubbery meat?), they smell kind of like semen, and well... they're most literally fungus. blegch.
anyhow, i was browsing the dr. weil site (disgustingly new age/self-help, i know) and he touts on about the health benefits of mushrooms. ok ok ok. i'll give the semen smelling rubbery meat things another go.
so i picked up some creminis and broccolini and went to town. after a sautee here, a chili flake there, a little deglazing ... poof! half of my dinner is done. the other half (brown rice) was not as interesting of a model so i left it out.
anyhow, the mushrooms tasted pretty amazing... i think a lot of it is due to the ton of garlic and onions i threw in there and the white wine vinegar... something about white wine vinegar makes everything taste better to me!

on to the next task: cactus. i have these cacti (nopal) slices and i'm not exactly sure what to do with them... yet.
